Women's economic empowerment is one of the most important driving forces behind
reducing poverty and aiding economic growth. Yet women are paid less for their work and see
fewer benefits of their labour, while discrimination and household responsibilities limit
their access to decent employment and capital. WEDO delivers vocational and enterprise
training across 30 centres to help women build income, confidence and independent businesses.

supplying 132 experienced persons to perform under various positions — demonstrating the
organization's capacity to respond to large-scale staffing needs with qualified,
verified personnel across every district of Bangladesh.

Beneficiaries6,600 women
A life-skills and awareness program for poor and disadvantaged women working in
the tea garden and Haor areas of Habiganj district. Training is delivered by qualified
instructors in equipped classrooms with multimedia resources; participants are nominated by
the Department of Women Affairs and receive course manuals, stationery and attendance records.
The program improves the quality of life and enhances productive income-generating
opportunities for VGD cardholders, strengthens the Department of Women Affairs' work and builds
women's earning capacity. Delivery combines awareness raising, diverse vocational training,
access to credit and supplementary services both during and after the food assistance phase.
